Meleng is celebrated as one of the oldest tea plantations in Assam, renowned for its extensive cultivation of both clonal and traditional Assamica tea varieties. The estate’s historical significance is highlighted by theÂP-126 clone, which traces its origins back to Meleng and remains a prominent variety in Assam’s tea industry, cultivated in a sprawling area of 20 hectares that has thrived for over a century.
Today, Meleng encompasses 1,340 hectares, with 840 hectares dedicated to tea cultivation. This venerable garden continues to honor its historical roots while embracing modern practices.
