Goomtee Tea Estate, a living testament to history and craftsmanship, was founded in 1899 by the visionary British planter Henry Montgomery Lennox amidst the verdant hills of Darjeeling. From its inception, Goomtee has weathered transitions, passing through the stewardship of notable figures like G.W. O’Brien and eventually coming under the patronage of the esteemed Rana of Nepal post-World War II.

Nestled in the heart of the Kurseong subdivision, known fondly as the “Land of White Orchids,” within the Darjeeling district, Goomtee sprawls across 225 hectares (560 acres) of pristine terrain. At elevations ranging from 3,000 to 5500 feet above sea level, the estate benefits from the cool mountain air and fertile soil, fostering optimal conditions for its tea bushes to flourish. It is within this picturesque landscape that Goomtee meticulously cultivates some of the most exquisite orthodox Darjeeling teas. Manufactured from vintage Chinary bushes, the estate’s leaves undergo a transformation, culminating in brews of unparalleled quality and character.
