Established in the mid to late 1800s, the garden’s name, “Mim,” has an interesting backstory. Locally, the term “Mem” referred to a British lady. When the garden was managed by a British woman, the locals affectionately called it “Mem ko Kaman,” meaning the garden run by the British lady. The name “Mim” was derived from this colloquial reference. Mim is the�only tea garden in Darjeeling that is owned by the Government of India.

Situated in Jorebunglow, Sukhiapokhari, within the Darjeeling district, the estate predominantly has Chinary tea bushes & sits at an elevation of approximately�5,000 feet above sea level. At this elevation, Mim benefits from the region’s unique terroir, characterized by cool temperatures, misty mornings, and fertile soil. This natural environment, coupled with the expertise of skilled tea masters, results in teas that boast unparalleled aroma, flavor, and complexity.
