Risheehat tea estate, nestled in the picturesque Darjeeling hills, has a rich history. Originally known as Tshering Bagan, it was established by the British in the 1900s. The name “Tshering” was inspired by the local tribe of the same name. Later, it was rechristened as Risheehat, which translates to “Home of Holy Saints”. The estate’s serene surroundings evoke a sense of spiritual tranquility. Situated about 14 to 16 kilometers southeast of Darjeeling town, Risheehat offers breathtaking vistas of the mighty Himalayas.
The garden is divided into two major sections: Risheehat and Liza-Hill. The tea bushes thrive at an average elevation ranging from of 4500 feet above sea level, contributing to the unique flavor profiles of the teas produced here. It is one of the few tea gardens that has succeeded in achieving both quality and production volume using organic farming methods.
