Description

Perched amidst the breathtaking Himalayan landscape, the Temi Tea Estate is a symbol of the region’s natural splendor and tea excellence.Founded by the Government of Sikkim in 1969, the estate is celebrated for both its superior teas and the awe-inspiring scenery that surrounds it. Situated in Namchi in the heart of South Sikkim, Temi enjoys a unique microclimate and rich soil conditions that contribute to the distinctive qualities of its tea.

Temi tea estate’s location at an altitude of approx 5,000 feet imparts a vibrant character to its summer harvest. The tea garden was envisioned by the then king of Sikkim, Palden Dhondup Namgyal, who sought to provide employment and foster industry in his kingdom. With the help of British tea planter Teddy Young, Temi was established as a pioneering venture, setting the stage for a legacy of high-quality tea production.

In 2005, Temi embraced organic farming practices, adhering to the guidelines set by the Institute of Marketology (IMO), Switzerland. Spanning approximately 435 acres, the estate upholds rigorous standards of quality and sustainability. Today, Temi Tea Estate is celebrated not only for its exquisite teas but also for its role in preserving Sikkim’s environmental and cultural heritage.
